Sydney jockey Josh Parr can relate to the impact champion mare Black Caviar has on all rungs of the Australian racing economy.
Black Caviar is tipped to pull a crowd of more than 30,000 through the gates in Adelaide on Saturday as she tries for a record-breaking 20th win.
Her presence will be an obvious windfall for the South Australian Jockey Club and Parr is hoping Adelaide race fans are given an encore performance in next month’s Group One Goodwood.
A Goodwood start for Black Caviar could leave the way open for Parr to secure a quality Brisbane winter carnival ride.
Parr will head north on Saturday to ride Black Caviar’s stablemate Brambles in the Group Three Gunsynd Classic at Eagle Farm and he is in the frame to ride the three-year-old in the Rough Habit Plate at Doomben on May 12.
“If Black Caviar doesn’t run in the Goodwood then Luke Nolen will ride Brambles in the Rough Habit,” Parr said.
“A lot of people in racing seem to wait around to see what Black Caviar is doing and I’m one of them. She’s that sort of horse.”
Parr said the chance to team up with trainer Peter Moody in Brisbane was an opportunity not to be missed.
“I’m looking forward to going to Brisbane because you never know what it could lead to riding for someone like Peter Moody,” Parr said.
Parr rode Brambles to a Hawkesbury placing last month before Nolen was in the saddle when the staying-bred three-year-old finished fourth in the Group Three Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick.
